Adding Media, Videos & Callouts
ContributorThe Lexical editor includes six custom block types that make your articles more engaging and interactive. To insert any block, place your cursor at the desired location and click the "+" button in the toolbar.
Video Embed
Embed videos from YouTube or Vimeo directly into your article. PATHS does not host video files — all video content is delivered via third-party embeds.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=...).
Use the standard watch URL for YouTube videos, not the shortened youtu.be format. The embed block will extract the video ID automatically.
Quiz Question
Add multiple-choice knowledge checks directly within your article. Quizzes help reinforce key concepts and keep learners actively engaged.

Quiz best practices
Write clear, unambiguous questions with one definitively correct answer. Avoid trick questions. Include 3-4 options for the best balance of challenge and usability.
Callout
Callouts are styled boxes that draw attention to important information. Four types are available:
- Info — general supplementary information or context
- Warning — cautions, prerequisites, or potential pitfalls
- Tip — helpful suggestions and best practices
- Success — positive outcomes, confirmations, or achievements
Do not overuse callouts. If everything is highlighted, nothing stands out. Reserve callouts for genuinely important points that learners should not miss.
Audio Embed
Embed podcast clips or narrated explanations. Select Audio Embed from the "+" menu, upload a file or provide a URL, and add a title.
Image Gallery
Display multiple images in a gallery layout. Select Image Gallery, upload images or choose from the Media library, and add captions.
PDF Viewer
Embed PDF documents for viewing or download. Select PDF Viewer, upload a PDF or choose from the Media library, and add a title.
Choosing the right block
Use video embeds for demonstrations, quiz questions after teaching a concept, callouts for critical reminders, and image galleries for visual evidence or processes.
